As is tradition.
140gb for a game is insanity bro
The base game or the patch? Not surprised about the base game considering how much detail modern games have and how large textures have gotten; however it sounds like the patch size is a Microsoft problem, not the devs.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is 150gb, so not really.
Just because it’s happened elsewhere doesn’t mean it isn’t crazy
Sure it’s a bit crazy, but it’s really not as crazy as you seem to feel. That’s just the way expansive, fancy gfx games are going.
It is crazy and it should absolutely not be the norm. You can make a game look just as great on half, or even quarter of the disk space.
Its a nightmare for me in Australia.
We have the shittiest internet thanks to our clown government.
It will take me 2 days to download the game.
At best I can get 50mbs download speeds on fibre in a capital city.
5g phone is faster
Does Aus just not have very many undersea connections to other continents? Or is it a more localized problem?
We have 15 cables connecting the whole country.
Then when the government said they would put fibre in to every house in Australia they were voted in. Then only when to the exchanges. So it’s bottle necked at exchanges onto copper again for distribution to houses.
Got it! Thanks :)
4k assets aren’t exactly small, and the game will still have lower res assets to support older rendering resolutions. There might be some trimming that can be done to remove unused assets and download vs install size with asset packing/unpacking.
I fully expect to see more games have these sizes as worlds become more involved, in depth character design, and enemy design.
From the article, the large size is specific to the Xbox version:
The large download size might be due to how Xbox releases its updates. Xbox updates are often bigger compared to those on PC and PlayStation 4/5.
It wouldn’t be a STALKER game if it wasn’t filled with bugs on release
