the more details that come out of the harris campaign; the clearer it becomes that they knew that they had no path to victory; but i’m still struggling to understand why they would go through all of the trouble of eschewing their base in favor of moderate republicans.
The base they eschewed was not the political base that aligned with their donors’ interests.
The donor class won huge in 2024 demonstrating control of both party platforms. The huge sums of money the Harris campaign recieved was specifically to eschew the working class and push right wing policy.
There was no conflict there: the result was the goal. The sooner people realize this the more healthcare reform we might see in our lifetime.
Exactly this. The Democratic Party has been completely purchased by the donor class.
Both parties now act in the interest of the wealthy, and arguably have for a while. This is why the largest thing we can point to coming out of the Democratic Party in decades are things like the ACA and the CHIPS act. These only entrench already established powerful interests, the same powerful interests that line the democratic party’s pockets.
They didn’t fix healthcare they just tried to make private insurance companies viable a little bit longer by making it mandatory that everyone join in. This was a massive giveaway to health insurers.
They wanted to lose and possibly drag the party rightward I guess. It would’ve been great for certain wallets but horrifying for everything else.
