From what I have heard, Firefox on iOS is just a skin on top of safari as apple doesn’t allow other browsers. If that’s actually true, I wonder why there isn’t an anti trust lawsuit against them
It’s my understanding that it still is required to use the WebKit rendering engine instead of Gecko. This is similar to how Edge and Chrome both use Chromium. Safari uses WebKit, so in that vein it can be considered another “skin” but it’s really just the rendering engine. Part of the problem with this is you can’t use the same extension and plugins as a result as any that mess with page rendering (i.e. things like adblockers) don’t work.
As for your lawsuit comment, someone with more of an NAL degree would have to chime in.
