Sharing art without crediting the artist isn’t very wholesome…

ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify to raise prices in SeptemberEnglish1·3 days agoThe offline features on Spotify are abysmal. Half my downloaded albums don’t even work. It’s the primary reason I’m looking for an alternative. How can an app with such a high market share be this shitty?
There’s no need to change the name, and I’m glad you made this community. It’s a lot of fun. Not everyone went to art school, so there are probably a lot fewer people like me seeing this than there are people who get exactly what they need to out of the name.
Keep it up, it’s an awesome comm : )
Good to know. I’m almost 40 and one of the things I’ve noticed over the course of my life is that people want to put emphasis on the concepts they’re talking about so that the person they’re describing something to understands how they feel about it. So people use strong words which evoke their emotions so that the listener can feel it too. People have always done this, but it’s become more pronounced over time.
This can backfire a bit because people will always use the strongest words to get their emotions across, which has the side effect of having those words lose their meaning. Surreal and abstract are two entirely different concepts, especially when referencing art. My art professors are probably highly annoyed by this but I’ll do my best to adapt.
All the animations on this comm have been a lot of fun, but this is the first time I’ve seen one that was actually surreal and not just trippy.

It was excellent and had me squirming in my chair. It felt fresh and I’m hoping it helps Jai Courtney get similar roles in the future.
I would think that it would only apply to AI generated images, but I suppose it would depend on the community. In this comm in particular in which all the posts are images it shouldn’t be too tricky to define. As the technology advances it might eventually be impossible to spot them, though…
Lemmy users seem to overwhelmingly despise AI slop, which makes me wonder why my more communities don’t have rules against it. I would love to be able to report it and have it removed.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto movies@piefed.social•AMC Theatres Looks To Shorten Preshow Following Studios’ Ire – The Dish2·6 days agoThat’s what I’m used to. The way it used to be I made sure I didn’t go into the theater before the time the movie was scheduled to start because that meant watching commercials. I tried that same tactic recently and had to watch almost 20 minutes of commercials before the trailers even started.
The enshitification in late stage capitalism is such a mess.
ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zipto movies@piefed.social•AMC Theatres Looks To Shorten Preshow Following Studios’ Ire – The Dish2·6 days agoIt’s mostly commercials. And these commercials aren’t made specifically for theaters either, they’re the same crap they show on TV. Commercials are a deal breaker for me, so I just don’t go to theaters anymore.

I recently added CPSTD and OCD to my collection. Woo.
What makes this even more obscene is that National Forests and parks make a profit even though they are services and aren’t supposed to. They’re taking the profits that these collect and giving them to billionaires.
You’re both right. Capitalism accelerates climate change but so does the outrageous electricity requirements of LLMs.

Climate Change May Bring It Sooner.16·7 days agoI live in Washington and every single campsite in this state has an illegal fire pit. Even the sites above 3500 feet elevation where fires are always illegal have them.
People are selfish assholes and just don’t care about anyone else. Risking burning down the entire state is worth it to them so they can have their stupid fire in the woods. It’s only a matter of time before it all burns down, and when it does, it will be started by some asshole with an illegal bonfire.

Singapore is a solid source, right? It’s bizarre to me that this isn’t more widely known.

This is why “drip jars” stopped being used in the 20th century. There used to be one in every house until it was understood it causes stomach cancer.

Yes! It always does the loading spin animation for like 10 seconds before it shows me my downloaded album. And some albums just never work at all. I have to go online and then offline again just to make it work at all, which defeats the purpose of being offline in the first place.
I just started my free qobuz trial though, and canceled my Spotify account. I mentioned their CEO as the reason I canceled.
