One month out from a deadline to avert a government shutdown, Republicans in Congress are struggling to find the votes to extend federal funding, and Democrats are issuing a stark warning: Don’t look at us this time.

They won’t stick it out. They’ll make some shitty deal that lets them feel like they got the upper hand briefly, rather than going 100% obstructionist like they should.
I mean going 100% obstructionist would leave federal employees out of an income and generally play into the GOP’s hands. The best play here is to use their leverage to pass a favorable budget, and maybe get concessions elsewhere.
Federal employees are being fired en masse without cause and replaced with ones who toe the line. Any federal employee who isn’t already being targeted should probably be looking for new work anyway, to be honest.
