Ah yes, the dreaded “Everyone wants something mutually exclusive from lunch and no one wants to compromise”

The best way to deal with this I find is to find a random hole in the wall place in the poor part of town and let everyone order what they want from there. 9/10 times the food will be absolutely amazing, cost a fraction of what the chain restaurant will cost and you avoid the long fight over what to get.

Most recently I did this with “Hot Million Indian Cusine”. Very good place to go if you are ever in Calgary.
