Me: okay, I’m doing stuff and trying to be productive, where’s my dopamine?

    Brain: what’s dopamine?

You’ve got it the wrong way around. Dopamine is the motivation chemical. Serotonin is the satisfaction chemical. You need dopamine before you can do things, and doing things is how you get serotonin.

We see dopamines in rat brains when we give them treats, cause they’re gaining motivation to solve more mazes and get more treats.
