I have approximately zero faith that Mozilla will even try to do any of those three things. They’re using ChatGPT now, and suffice to say their track record with privacy beyond lip service hasn’t been great. Every time Mozilla has been asked to choose between money and what they believe in, they’ve chosen money. On one hand, I kinda don’t blame them – if I was a scrappy broke nonprofit maintaining one of the most complex pieces of software mankind has ever devised, I’d probably take money wherever I could get it too – but it’s still incredibly disappointing to see and doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
