WASHINGTON, May 20 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday slammed the International Criminal Court prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling the move “outrageous”.

“And let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence - none - between Israel and Hamas. We will always stand with Israel against threats to its security.” Biden said in a statement.

His top aide Secretary of State Antony Blinken also criticized the move, raising questions over the court’s jurisdiction as well as its process in making this application. He added that it could jeopardize negotiations to achieve a hostage deal and a ceasefire.

So I agree with the statement that the state of Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas are not equivalent. That doesn’t mean both can’t be committing evil, criminal acts. Both are embracing evil tactics in this fight.

Of course an aggressor terrorist organization is not equivalent with a legitimate nation defending itself from attack. But when the nation goes on to commit terrible evil, even in the name of self-defense, that deserves to be answered with justice.

I guess one can quibble about the definition of legitimate, but it is the elected representative government of a population. That’s a far cry from a terrorist organization.
