The two-part finale of Doctor Who season 14 will be shown in cinemas across the UK next month.
Special screenings will kick off around the country at 11pm on Friday 21st June 2024, starting with a showing of the previous week’s penultimate episode, The Legend of Ruby Sunday.
Then, at midnight, as the season finale Empire of Death lands on BBC iPlayer (and Disney Plus internationally), a select group of fans will be treated with seeing the blockbuster conclusion on the big screen.
How have you found the season so far? I can’t watch it so I haven’t seen anything since the specials/christmas ep. I got the feeling from our first glimpse that I could really like this Doctor but I’m not entirely sure I’d be up for more Davis writing.
The first episode was awful, juvenile nonsense that reminded me of the worst RTD episodes of his first run.
The second was great - they really went for it and it worked.
The third was a lesser Moff episode but he maintains high enough quality that it was still good and a handy change of pace and tone that let the cast go to some darker places and show other facets of their characters.
Ep 1 bad bad bad. Juvenile and felt out of place as a “first” ep with Ruby and the Doctor travelling together
Ep 2 good but a bit campy for me particularly as a companion to ep 1 (might have liked it more later in the season)
Ep 3 liked the concept and tone. Social commentary was a bit hack for me personally.
Ep 4 loved it, best ep of this new run for me, including the specials
The first episode was ok but very cheesy with a weird resolution. The second I’ve was way better. If you ignore the Beatles stunt doubles, it’s an awesome episode. The third one is another great Moffat episode with quite a lot of series 5 callbacks.
How did you find the musical number? I loved it but I’ve found a lot of hate for it.
It wasn’t my favourite part of the episode but it fit the story. Kind of like how after the Toymaker was defeated, some of his energy was still left.
Oh interesting, maybe that’s the thing with these super villains, that a bit of their essense is left and might build up?
Things happen where you don’t know why they worked, there’s a moffat episode with his one plot of characters in impossible odds and an ass pull ending, and the doctor is kind of not acting like the doctor.(he’s crying/scared constantly and seems stumped all the time.)
Not much better than what I’ve seen from the 13th doctor, tbh.
I second this inquiry.
Honestly the storylines have been pretty weak. The 3rd episode seems like a move in the right direction though.
