Personally, my favorite is the gyro on button hold, bound to the aiming button, as Breath of the Wild originally did. I’m personally peeved about the always-on implementation on Splatoon though, because any slight tremor in your hand means your aim will suffer. (At least they had the decency of adding a dedicated recenter button.) And how do you go three games in a row not allowing the players to correct the vertical aim with the stick? What in the world is the rationale for that?
For games with a dedicated aim button I prefer to have gyro on button hold.
For any game where you need to shoot without ADS, I like to have it always on, but disable with ratcheting/gyro off button.
I have no idea why they would remove vertical stick aim. I understand having the option, but it shouldn’t be the default, and it definitely shouldn’t be forced.
