I started to lead a squad, but I have some questions:
- How do I prevent automatic target switch?
- How do I mark a point I stand on as defend?
Are there any other general tips for new squadleads?

As to both your questions: the squad leader can mark an objective to attack/defend with the middle mouse button while looking at the objective marker. If you’re too close, you won’t be able to mark it, so try backing up a bit. This also prevents the focus from automatically switching to the next unowned point.
As for general tips:
Don’t forget to put down your rally beacon whenever you get enough squad points. Find a relatively intact building or some natural cover to put it behind and maybe shore it up with some sandbags. Put it somewhere either close-ish to a point or at least far forward from spawn.
Do remember to re-evaluate which point you’ve ordered to attack/defend often; your squad engaging at these places is what get your squad points you all use for building.
If a lot of your squad is dead, try to find cover and disengage from combat so they can all spawn in on you.
Ontop of this I’d add, it’s totally viable to superfob a point, you will need support, ideally 2-4 guys to be active defenders outside of the lemmings, but if you can put it in or next to the cap zone you can hold out well
Thanks this answers my question. I would have wished that I do not have to leave a point to give a defend command, but we might see some improvement here in the future.
If possible I can also recommend to put the rally not next to a destructible wall. Those attract rpgs.
I’ve put Rallies between points with reasonable success, as well. Just needs some natural cover. Makes switching between points easier, and usually puts you up against a group of snipers.
