Posted this elsewhere but I’ll ask here too.
Say for instance two or three instances have their own version of a sublemmy for some niche topic. Is it possible to group those sublemmys together so I can view posts from each federated instance as if they were all on one site?
Sure, over time things might normalize and one instances sublemmy will probably reign supreme, but for now is this possible?
There’s an open feature request for this: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/818
Oh sweet, good to know devs are discussing it.
Yeah, it’s cool seeing the plans being made after the unexpected surge in users. Lemmy a year from now could be very different.
This is a good feature, let’s hope it will get implemented soon.
Others have answered your main question but just so you know, the word you’re looking for there is “community” :)
Id seen sublemmy referenced a few times in other places so I figured it was the agreed upon term. Community is less cringe so good to know.
Yeah I think it’s just with the recent influx people are naturally going back to Reddit terms wherever they’re not sure what the existing word is. But it makes answering support questions more complicated sometimes so just thought I’d point it out!
No, not possible at this time. It is a requested feature, so maybe eventually.
!slide@feddit.uk has subreddits as a feature built in and, while it is still early days, there’s no reason it couldn’t work here (Calckey has antennas which is, probably, fancier).
don’t think that’s possible atm but I’d love to see that functionality get added as well
c/asklemmy is not for support. Please use !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml for support requests and feedback.
u can use an rss reader and put their rss links in one folder, now u can read them together.
Hi JB, I went down this rabbit hole last week, here is a post I made summarizing what I found, with links to the dev’s GH discussions of the different ideas for implementing the linking of communities, both within an instance or across instances, public or private, mod or user created. These features would likely be implemented separately.
There is also a link to a firefox extension that you may find useful while the dev work is ongoing.
Hey, I saw a post earlier where someone had created a sort if work around. They have made accounts of multiple instances and use them for specific content and only subscribing to that content on the account. So an account for nsfw stuff An account for sports stuff An account for game/hobby stuff Etc etc.
Could be worth doing that for now. All the app appear to support adding multiple account and switching between them.
Hi. You’ve posted the same question in a couple different places. You might consider waiting for an answer before doing that. Thank you!
Ok I posted it once before in another sub not “a couple of places”, but genuine question, why do you care?
Just want to keep the signal to noise ratio down. And posting it in two places is, indeed posting “in a couple of places”. Anyway, I’m not upset just asking politely. Have a lovely day friend!
