If I remember correctly that sub had about 100K users. A few days ago I criticized major yiff subreddits for not even shutting down the 48h of the initial protest. And now we have the /r/furry subreddit blacked out for over a week.

Does anyone know who their admins / mods are? We should invite them over to here or pawb.social.

From what I remember about the r/furry mods, they were extremely strict. They kept r/furry so sanitized it felt like a boy in a bubble scenario. (¬_¬;)

Which I understood to a degree since they wanted to keep the environment clean for all ages. But they usually took it to far, many cases where people got banned for no reason. ( ̄︿ ̄)

If the proverbial stick has been removed (if they have been removed as mods) I would say invite them. But if not, then invite them to pawb.social. ┐( ̄~ ̄)┌

I was there for 10 years, and either I’m more like than mods than you, or I just didn’t see the same things you saw, cuz I wouldn’t say they were overly strict. Yeah, the place was very SFW, almost to a fault in some ways, but it gave an option to people who didn’t want casual NSFW stuff. The only banning I can remember was a teenager posting weird fetish art and trying to pass it off as cute SFW stuff.

Either way, I’d be very excited if a bunch of people from the subreddit moved over here, losing that community (and the fursuit subreddit) is the only reason I’m sad reddit is kinda dying.

It wasn’t exactly what you saw on the subreddit. It was what you saw off the subreddit. I remember people posting on r/realfurryhours mentioning they were Permabanned. Some bans were legitimate and some were not. Some were stupid bans because of bots checking what subs you visited. Their were cases where people had comments removed that were still SFW, but not things the mods wanted to hear. It seemed their was legitimate grievances that people had against r/furry mods.

They would be more than free to run their own furry community. There’s no reason we would have to merge into one single furry community. We can have /c/furry and /c/furries or whatever. But they’re more than welcome to set up their own more sanitized community.

That’s not what I was meaning. I guess I wasn’t exactly clear and let some misgivings and my own feelings confuse the matter about r/furry… So I apologize about that. m( _ _ )m

I should have been more specific, if they want to migrate to Lemmy and keep their new community on Lemmy more accessible to younger furs below the age of 18, they will probably want to have it on a more family friendly instance like pawb.social.

And well… Look at our instance name? It doesn’t really fit that family friendly vibe, and we are not an instance for furs under the age of 18. so we probably wouldn’t be the best fit for them.

Now considering everything, nothing stops them from creating their accounts and main community on pawb.social then creating a more adult oriented version of that sfw community here. Here it doesn’t have to be super sanitized because everyone should be over the age of 18 on this instance, or visiting this instance from other instances. So their would be more leeway for more adult subject matters still SFW but not appropriate for younger furs to hear about.

But that is also hypothetical. And sorry if I am on a bit of a tangent… ADHD and all that. Makes me want to type up paragraphs when I should be trying for short, sweet, and to the point. Again, sorry. m( _ _ )m

Oh, You’re 100% right. We would not accept minors. Good catch. No worries, I also tend to be very verbose.
