I installed JF on ubuntu mate + jellyfin. However, can’t connect to my local network devices e.g. amazon firestick? Should I open port forwarding 8096?

If you have a firewall running on your ubuntu server you need to allow tcp connections on port 8096 for your local network
Did that and still can’t access It on firestick or laptop.
How are you setting up your client? http://<YOUR-IP>:8096 should do, if you try https then a reverse proxy may be needed
HTTP://my IP:8096
I think is router tomorrow will try to open that port
