This may overlap a lot with the discussion on what people are buying during the Steam sale discussion, but here it is anyways.
After finally upgrading to a 1TB ssd yesterday, I can finally splurge on some bigger games.
So right now I’m mostly playing vampire survivors
I get what you’re saying, but the sentence order definitely sounds like you needed to upgrade to 1TB of storage in order to play bigger games like Vampire Survivors.
it was a little bit intended as the joke (although a true one)
Tunic. This game is beautiful and sessions on a full battery can last a while without charging. Highly recommend.
This game evoked a feeling of wonder and discovery that I’ve rarely felt since childhood
The Witcher 3 two DLCs, now that I finished the base game.
You are up for a treat. This game if phenomenal
Yes, became my absolute favorite game :)
Hell yeah! Both DLC are so cheap on GOG during black Friday .
Yeah, even the bundle of the base game together with both dlc is a steal.
Currently Metal Gear Rising.
This one is such a banger. Look up guides on how to parry consistently if the game didn’t explain it well enough. It’s crucial to the enjoyment of the game, yet it is explained oh so poorly.
Playing Pentiment right now
Is it good, it’s been on my wishlist for quite some time waiting for a bigger discount.
yeah, I’m in the last 1/3 of the game and it’s been really good. Getting used to the medieval script in dialogue bubbles took some time, but it’s definitely worth it.
I broke down and bought Baldur’s Gate 3. I really tried to like it, but I did not.
So now I bought Horizon: Forbidden West, but the Deck can’t play it, so I’m playing that on my desktop.
with the latest 1.5 patch you can easily reach 60fps during normal gameplay (all low settings, FSR3 frame gen enabled). you can even reach 90fps incertain cases. its honestly impressive what they were able to squeeze out of the steamdeck.

I’m sure your desktop plays it better, but it should now work on the Deck despite the unverified status (this is the case more often than not).
Whaaaaat?? Friend you just made my night! Thank you!
You can always stream from your desktop to your Deck too if the performance on the Deck isn’t great.
I do this with my PS5 sometimes. I played the majority of Miles Morales that way.
Hey, what was it that you didn’t like about BG3? I haven’t played it yet because my patience for RPGs is low these days.
BG3 is a pretty impressive game really. It’s clear that they poured a lot of effort and talent into it. It just feels… pointlessly complicated to me. There’s like, 200 different spells to cast, each with their own effectiveness based on a dice roll, a multitude of different configurations for character development which all feel both too similar and like I’m closing the door on something I might really like. The story is… okay, but really not that interesting to me, and the pacing in combination with the very open world and constant fiddling with gear with a multitude of only slightly different attributes… it’s just too much. The game feels more like a job than something I’d do for fun.
That’s exactly why I avoided it. It’s a second job rather than fun (to me, plenty disagree of course). Thank you for confirming that. I’ll stick with more action heavy games.
Monster Hunter: World + Iceborne was on sale so I snagged it and I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. Runs just fine on the deck and even though the game is clearly intended for multiplayer it works totally fine as a solo game.
The main issue I had with the game is that there’s no pause button (as mentioned, it’s a game oriented towards multiplayer) which isn’t really compatible with my current life but with Decky Loader and the Pause Game plugin installed I can easily pause the game mid-quest without worrying about failing the time limit.
I spend hours setting up mods for games I’ve never played before so I can play the “best” version of it just to either get it working and play for a hell of a lot less time than I spent setting it up or giving up and going back to one of my comfort games.
Mad Max, snatched it for 2 bucks during the sale. Pretty good and chill game and well worth its price.
Whoa. It runs on deck? I just finished it on desktop. Completionist wise it was such a burden and I wish it didn’t have any achievements. Hopefully your sand trip is awesome!
It runs beautifully.
Nearly done with Metaphor ReFantizio, and also playing some Astalibra and FEAR.
I recently found out that FEAR won’t run well on modern windows PCs, and installed it on my Deck to see if it ran better on linux. Turns out it runs fantastically, with the Deck able to outperform any windows machine. I intended to only test performance, but FEAR is one of my favorite shooters of all time and I quickly got suckered back in. So I guess I’m going to do a full playthrough now.
One of the games I picked up on Steam Sale was Cobalt Core. Fantastic game, it ate my entire Thanksgiving break lol
Mouthwashing, which I should finish tonight, Selaco - this one required a bit of tweaking but can mostly hold 60 now - and Balatro.
Bluey: The Videogame. Worked past the resolution issues, the control issues, and now it is great fun with the 4 year old.
My most played games continue to be Stardew Valley, Brawlhalla, Superflight, Just Cause 3, and Puyo Puyo Tetris.
I bought Against the Storm a few weeks ago and that has taken most of my gaming time. Just bought Hogwarts Legacy from the sale, I’ll probably fire that up sometime soon.
How do you deal with the janky text? I found it hard to learn the game with it all so aliased.
For which game? I haven’t played Hogwarts yet but I just scaled up the UI for Against the Storm and have no issues reading the text.
Ah, interesting - I meant against the storm, but I don’t think I’ve scaled the text! That might be my issue. Thank you!
