I’ve been trying not to get my hopes up about the superconductor, but unfortunately it seems my fears might be confirmed…

Tbf, afaik the original sample still hasn’t been released for third party analysis, or if it has, the results aren’t public yet. Additionally, due to how inexact the process it, it’s totally possible that the original sample is superconductive, but not for the reasons originally thought. I wouldn’t give up hope yet, but I’d temper my expectations.
Edit: another interesting tidbit is that the attempted replications of lk-99 all demonstrate varying levels of ferromagnetism and diamagnetism, both of which are apparently extremely unusual for the compounds involved. So even if lk-99 isn’t superconductive at all, it might still lead to some interesting, albiet unrelated, discoveries.
Edit 2: I also want to say that I’m not a scientist, so make sure to take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I just wanna be hopeful about something. It’s hard to plan for the future if you’re unsure that you’ll have a future.

Don’t need to be a scientist to have a good point about general peer review procedure. If the experiment procedure hasn’t even been released yet then any attempt at peer review is technically impossible. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the original findings are confirmed, but what it does mean is that you can’t say yes or no until that information has been released.
