    I guess Android Authority just kind of forgot about the existence of custom roms like LineageOS?

    This whole situation sucks though. I used my Pixel 4a until last year, when I gifted it to my niece. It was still in almost perfect condition, now it’s basically unusable. I’d send it in to get the battery replaced, but I think they won’t do it without replacing the screen, as she dropped the phone recently and it now has a single hairline crack. I might install LineageOS, but then I have no idea if the battery is actually dangerous. Not like Google is giving any details whatsoever regarding the actual problem. Very poorly handled IMO.

      Idk Mine started bloating 2 or 3 months before Google announced this. Replaced just as they were rolling out the update which bricked it…
