From what I’ve heard scalpers bought basically the entire European stock of 5090s because they got early access to the sale from nvidia. Fun times we live in.

Apparently (one of?) the official Nvidia seller(s) in Europe gave put special links to selected people so they could order their cards ~1h before the official launch. Some scalpers got their hands on that link and simply bought all of them. Kinda insane to Honor those sales tbh if that story is true.

I have ally information from this yt short, didn’t verify because I don’t care enough about this situation: https://youtube.com/shorts/4HmKACYFdw8

Not that I like this shit, but why the hate for scalpers? It’s literally the capitalism’s basic rule. Exploit the weaker, buy low sell high. I mean Apple sells a piece of cloth for 29,99 and people wait in line. Hate the game, not the player.

Hate the game, not the player.

Why not both? Of course it’s the companies not giving a shit about who buys their stuff and those idiots who actually buy cards for 3x retail prices who enable this kind of behaviour. However, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. I think it’s highly unethical to exploit regular people like this. Of course, if you buy the card you’re a moron and part of the problem but that doesn’t mean I don’t think scalpers are scum.

I think companies should do more to stop scalpers from buying too many high value items because…

Apple sells a piece of cloth for 29,99 and people wait in line.

…people are idiots and need to be protected from themselves.

Realistically though it’s not a problem that is going to go away anytime soon. Companies aren’t going to do shit because why would they and there’s always going to be sacks of human garbage who

        Exploit the weaker

Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally against those fucknuggets. But I would just not asses them with a higher evilness than any other company/person that’s acting in and upon capitalism.

Yeah sure, people are idiots that need to be protected (from themselves). Saying that for decades, but…that’s literally not capitalism’s job. It’s a government’s job. Ours does pretty well, but far from perfect/ideal. Yet that’s not the point.

Someone sells a product for X moneyz. I buy it and sell it for X+Y moneyz. My goal, as a buisiness, is to a) maximize Y and b) maximize the percentage of quantity i can buy of that product, so I alone can dictate the value of Y. If I’m the producer of the item, why should I care for a diverse sellout? Seeing my product so high in demand that people pay triple the street-price is exactly what would get me hard, right?

I get it, i’m a gamer, i am victim of scalpers, i already paid triple for my last GPU and probably will pay even more for the next. But we all seem to love capitalism unless it’s fucking us? that is everything the system is for. fucking the vast majority blind.

Probably the scalper-next-door is a more grasp-able object to project hate upon than faceless bigtech?

And hate both? Yeah sure, i’m anti-capitalist. I hate both. I hate people per se. But that still doesn’t make the scalper worse than any other partaker in a lousy system.

" It’s literally the capitalism’s basic rule. Exploit the weaker, buy low sell high."

…your point being? Capitalism sucks, yeah. Exactly. The scalper is just another asshole partaking in it. Like you and me.

The whole system is an asshole per definition. What’s so special with scalpers? Because hating them is so easy?
