Where do you guys host images instead of uploading them here?

Imgur or something else?

Bonus points for them to be able to strip exif data and generate anonymous links.

Preferably not something big corpo-like. I realize that housing tons of images gets prizyb though…

Is pixelfed an option perhaps?

Imgur is heading for an IPO too. And they’re going to be purging all NSFW content. In other words, they’re busy committing suicide.

They already did. I already didnt like imgur because of its love of posting irrelevant “trending content”(read:political memes and news screenshots) alongside the image i uploaded/clicked to view and insisting on having to use their app ala reddit but that was the last straw

I’ve been using imgbox and imgbox-cli to upload images. I really love the snazzy built-in pict-rs uploader for Lemmy but I don’t want to cause undue strain on my home instance.

Looks nice as well. Unlimited storage… what’s the business model? Ads?

They have ads on an image link’s main page, but you can direct link without a problem. They don’t offer a way to make donations or subscribe to a premium plan. They have a FAQ, but it doesn’t mention monetary compensation. Not to say you should rely on them for eternity but it seems like they’re a fine choice in the meantime.

Edit: Updated, I found ads on an image link’s page, e.g.: https://imgbox.com/zBJPMpPA

Something on my main browser was blocking ads even with uBlock disabled 🤷
