Don’t just destroy them, we have enough ewaste already. Some councils have good electronics recycling, but you could also see if you have an elderly relative that might actually be able to make use of it as an accessibility device.
Send them to be recycled. Look up your local council electronic recycling scheme.
Someone has hacked a Nest, an Echo may be doable.
Maybe see if you can recycle or reuse them in some way.
