    I remember my parents saving up for a Mac Plus in 1986. Calculating the price, it would have cost $7487 in today’s currency, which blows me away… especially since only geeks owned a computer in 1986; it wasn’t considered anything but a luxury item in the home for most people.

    So buying one of these today is like buying two Mac Pluses in 1986.

    I’m not at all shocked, but that’s a pretty reasonable comparison.

    Now if only I had USD$14k to spare….

      Yup. Despite the internal hardware being cheaper and more efficient than anything we had even a decade ago, the package still costs a fortune.
