Granted, it was just a little off the top each time as I’m trying to encourage growth, but I usually don’t do my first mow until a bit into April. Bonus is that I shouldn’t have to bag the first mow this year.

    I’d advise to ditch the bags. You need a lot less fertilizer when the clippings you harvest are composted (in place or in a proper heap) rather than thrown away.

    I have Zoysia on one side and Bermuda on the other and I’ve mowed twice already as well, to get rid of the dead before the new arrives. Filling one bag per pass wasn’t fun, but it feels good to have a nice start to the year.
