No gas, no insurance, no expensive parts, I can repair everything myself, it’s healthy and great exercise, I can go places cars can’t, no surveillance system on wheels, no ads on my dashboard.

A backpack and a bike and I’m good for 99% of whatever I have to do or wherever I have to go.

I have a folding bike, and I live next to the train station. A subscription is 120 a month, and as long as I stay away from Rush hour there are no additional costs.

Well it’s liberating for both my finances and well-being. I do my best to minimize the number of ongoing monthly expenses that I can, and not having a car is the biggest savings for me which gives me more I can save or spend recklessly.

Car Insurance is a mandated subscription cost when owning or leasing a car, whereas transit you can choose between pay-as-you-go and subscription (“monthly passes”), and it costs way less. Biking is a one time purchase, with costs only if you want someone else to repair and tune it for you.
