    As I understand it from another thread about this, it’s normal to use adhesives on modern cars. Just that Tesla fucked up and uses the wrong adhesive.

      Theres no excuse for securing a big flat steel plate to the exterior of a vehicle with glue. Bolt em or weld em.

            The skin is comprised of a laminated structure, an outer chemically milled skin(to reduce weight) and a “waffle” structure known tear straps. Yes there’s rivets, but the structural strength is in that lamination between the waffle doubler.
