title self-explanatory. Sync is great and all, but i often make comments and then a few days later i remember i made them and i see i got replies

      If Lemmy doesn’t have push notifications, would this be bad for battery if enabled?

        Sync for Reddit had different time sets, I suppose the implementation will be similar, so you’d be able to adjust it in a way that it isn’t fetching the notifications too often.

      Looking forward to it! I’ve only realised just now that I have replies to my comments because I checked my inbox for the first time in 2 months 😅

      It would help if there is a notification circle on the inbox icon in the sidebar too? I don’t have the bottom bar as another commenter had shared as I prefer to use sidebar only.

    Lemmy does not have push notification support. To enable notifications, 3rd party apps will have to make API calls to the lemmy API at regular intervals which would be costly for

    1. Lemmy as the api traffic would increase massively.
    2. For your phone battery as sync would keep running in the background and keep sending API queries

    you don’t get notifications (for now) but you still get the number of replies in red over the inbox tab.
