The LUG Helper is a tool that automatically installs Star Citizen on Linux, and helps players update and maintain their game experience.

Initially released in December 2020, the Helper has continued on to become a venerable tool to assist Space Penguins of all experience levels with updates and maintenance.

Improvements in the v3.8 release include:

  • Mactan’s wine builds added as a new runner source
  • New Maintenance option to edit the game launch script
  • New Maintenance option to launch wine configuration tool
  • New Maintenance option to configure sticks and controllers
  • New option to update DXVK for native Wine installs
  • Fixed menu sizing for current Gnome/KDE versions
  • Improved install progress messages
  • Prevent re-using existing wine prefixes
  • Default wine updated to 10.5
  • Updated the RSI Installer to the latest version

      about the same. some very optimistic and lucky penguins might see it run a bit better but it’s within a narrow margin

    I backed this game so long ago!

    I wonder what linux support for squadron 42 will be like

      I’m expecting it to be the same, as it’s using the same engine. They did have Linux support as a stretch goal, but I don’t know if they’re actually going to release a client, or just make sure it works in Wine, which it currently does in a way.
