Since thereās no official thread Iām going to write my thoughts in this post as I watch the episode.
The animated stuff has never really grabbed me. All this Ezra stuff is like, āoh ok yeah uh huh heās super important I get it.ā
āCan I count on you?ā - foreshadowing?
I like this sith dude, but I feel like heās going to turn to the light.
Rebellion insignia on Sabineās mando armour š¤
Jedi bot nooooo!
Oh good they saved him. I like this droid. Whatās his name?
Oh, itās the 25 year old general again. I donāt mind her character, but she doesnāt seem grizzled enough to be a general.
How come her kid doesnāt have head tendrils?
Oh itās Mr. Kim! I always like seeing him show up.
Ooooo baddies being bad. Trippy map stuff is fun.
Uh oh showdown time.
Cool fight. She should have just stabbed spinny-lightsabre guy in the knuckles though. Guess weāll never know who that guy was. Did we know Sabine had a light sabre or is this a new development?
Oh no theyāre splitting up! Mr. Droid said not to do that!
Canāt they make a copy of this map? Why are they fighting over this one map? Any good data hoarder would have backed it up by now.
Oh shit theyāre going to talk about Anakin now!
Yeah get bent pal, she doesnāt have to explain herself to you.
Yeah donāt start wars, bro. Or do, I guess thatās why Iām watching Star Wars
Oh lightsaber time again already??
Aw, I feel honoured that my little threads are called āofficialā! Thank you! š
Honestly, Wednesday was a very busy day for me, so didnāt get to watch it until yesterday evening. Thanks for opening the discussion up. My thoughts for the week.
Overall feeling I felt this episode was an improvement over last weekās, but to be honest, given my somewhat scathing thoughts about that one, that wasnāt difficult. There was actually something happening in this one. Iām still feeling conflicted about the overall tone of the show. Ahsoka hasnāt really shown her fun side yet. Itās all very dour and stilted still.
What show am I watching? Are we a Rebels Reunion show or an Ahsoka show? I would love the series to commit to one or the other. We have Hera, Jacen, Sabine, Ahsoka. But, we nearly got them together this episode, for them to be pulled apart yet again. And if weāre going to bring the gang back together, whereās my buddy Zeb? I refuse to believe heās just hanging around in that bar Mando met him whilst all this stuff is going down. It wouldāve felt very natural to bring him into the fold as Hera flew off to go and help her friends.
āAnakin spoke highly of you.ā āFunny, he never mentioned you.ā This show needs to stop already with the āthis person is a mystery revealā. Who is this evil Sith? How did he know Anakin? Where did he suddenly come from in an era where Luke and Leia were the last hope? Filoni stretched the lore to its limits by sending Ezra to another universe and making Ahsoka a not-Jedi-Jedi to stay faithful to Obi-Wan & Yodaās conversations. Also, just, enough with the whole āmystery revealā.
Those plot points have been done to death. In this episode, quite literally because, did Ahsoka just kill Mystery Helmet Guy? And he justā¦ turned to dust? If he was being sustained to such a degree by the Dark Side, then, erm, hello? If this is indeed the end for that baddie, then, thatās disappointing. I have faith in Dave Filoni, but weāre halfway into the season and I feel like weāre still busy getting started.
Weāre finally going places Took half the season, but it seems like weāre travelling. Disappointed that Thrawn still hasnāt appeared though, when the trailer first launched I thought we were in for an exciting season. It may still turn exciting, but canāt escape the feeling weāve wasted a lot of time to get there.
Anakin? I would love for Ahsoka to have a proper character moment with Anakin, aka the child-murderer. Which, erm, not sure how weāre going to gloss over that one. But this very mystical World Between Worlds seems to be letting all sorts of people in lately. Maybe some Loth Wolves installed a revolving door somewhere?
Weāll see where this goes, though. Itās probably the way for Ahsoka to make it to the other universe.
Agency I think my main problem with the show so far, similar to the Kenobi one before it, is that a lot of stuff happens to Ahsoka. She doesnāt take control of the situation or carve out her plans. Sheās responding to people, attacks, schemes, but her plan so far hasnāt gone beyond āLetās go fly there and have a look.ā
It feels very inconsistent with her character from before.
Also. Sabine handing over the map just like that? Cartoon-Sabine wouldāve kicked her ass over that. No WAY, would she go against Ezraās sacrifice in that manner? Ezra did everything to get rid of Thrawn and helped end the war. Sabine, with her strong moral compass and iron will, would suddenly go, āOh yeah, screw it, I miss Ezra so letās help out these baddies get Thrawn back.ā
Unless this was part of the plan she made with Ahsoka all alongā¦.
ā¦.wouldāve been great if there had been even a HINT of that, though, if it were the case.
6 / 10 for me.
Which, is painful. I love these characters, but they all seem to be wandering around looking for the plot. I hope they find it soon.
Ah yeah I agree with pretty much everything youāve said. Iād give it a seven though.
Iām not too concerned about there being a place where dead Jedi can talk to the living. Kind of a stretch, but sure.
Same with the random new Sith people.
Feloni is once again trying to fit in between two time periods so Iāll cut him some slack, especially with how poorly handled the sequel trilogy was. I just hope they eventually let him work without the baggage of trying to fix sloppy movies.
Thatās a very good point, that Filoni is trying to redeem the sequel movies, but I feel that may be a very challenging thing to pull off. Where the prequels were clunky and clumsy movies, they did have a solid overarching plot with clear themes throughout. The sequel movies, unfortunately, have very little overarching themes or plot.
With the New Republic shown to be an ineffective government regarding the response to a possible threat, and the imperial remnants operating within society, in episode 3 and Mando, that thread is becoming clearer as we lead into The Force Awakens. The rise of the First Order may be the most solid attempt at redemption. Other than that? The sequels are just too much of a mess at this stage to connect with, thank you Disney.
A Filoni-led Old Republic era? That may well give him the freedom to let loose.
Regarding dead people speaking, I think I wouldāve preferred Force Ghost Anakin instead. We already know heās out there somewhere, from Return of the Jedi.
Letās see what this weekās episode will bring, I suppose!
I donāt think heās trying to redeem the sequels, but just make them make sense. Thereās a 30 year gap to fill. I think it can be done.
Theyāre obviously leading up to the cloning of Palpatine in Mando and now Ahsoka is joining Mando in showing how the New Republic botched it so hard that the Empire came back.
Heās also using popular parts of the Legend canon to do it, which will hopefully calm down some of the rabid EU-fans.
I guess Marrok isnāt really Marek after all? If Marrok really is dead, that was very anti-climactic.
how long until Heraās son is kidnapped/taken prisoner to be a new dark Jedi apprentice? it seems like that is the only purpose for him to be on this trip.
I didnāt even know that guyās name. Not every death has to be spectacular, I guess. š¤·š»āāļø
Yeah thatās a good point. Heās kind of a useless little turd. And where the frick are his tendrils??
Aw I bunged up the app. Ok continuing hereā¦
Haha aināt no rock gonna stop Ahsoka!
Simultaneous Master vs Master and Apprentice vs Apprentice fights. Nice.
Oh damn buddy you just got your ass kicked!
Ouch thatās a hot map!
Oh he aināt done yet!
Oh man she just chucked that chick against a rock!
She fell. Enh sheāll be back. The show is named after her after all. She probably landed on a millennium falcon or something.
Oh, buddyās playing with her emotions. Donāt fall for it Sabine! Itās a classic sith trick!
Greater good?? Dude, you serve the literal embodiment of evil in this universe.
No, itās not the only way. Kill him!
Awwwww why?? You told Ahsoka she could count on you!
Space fight time!
Of course now he destroys the map. Sabine you idiot.
Cool. Classic X-Wing pilot shots.
Holy shit they just smashed through all those ships! No space fight I guess. Just a space demolition. That poor rhodian.
The kid almost said the line! (Where are his tendrils??)
Where the hell is she? In the map? Did she cross in to the Halo universe? Looks like a light bridge.
Oh shiiiiit itās Anakin!
Is she dead?
Nah
Well, finally looks like the show is picking up! I loved this episode. Pacing was better, and itās starting to enter āI have no idea whatās going to happen nextā territory.
Where the hell is she? In the map? Did she cross in to the Halo universe? Looks like a light bridge.
Itās the āWorld Between Worldsā. Weāve seen it once before, on Rebels. Itās a bridge between space and time. Ezra, Ahsoka, and Palpatine are the only ones who have seen it (that we know of).
Ahhh ok.
Overall I enjoyed it very much! The showās got its issues, but itās likeā¦ have you seen Star Wars?
