This may not be green but is at least green tinted. It would be a step forward.
Currently jet fuel not only emits a huge amount of carbon dioxide but does so at altitude that makes more difference. We need to do something.
Unfortunately there isn’t really a green solution (except high speed rail) and batteries may never be able to serve that use case. This is at least emitting carbon that is currently in the carbon cycle rather than digging up more carbon that was sequestered for hundreds of millions of years. It’s at least simplifying the problem to growing crops, which already need to be decarbonized. We need to do something. A less than ideal step is still a step.
This would be even better if the goal is to redirect ethanol for cars, which have better solutions, so we’re not changing the overall agricultural impact. Of course that assumes we’re effectively managing the transition to electric vehicles rather than hold on tight to our buggy whips
But green is in the title so don’t look into it!
