One of my ecology professors back at uni used to propose a phylum called Cutezoa.

Cutezoa have the shared characteristic of being cute and therefore the public and media care about protecting them.

Moths get such a bad wrap when they are prettier than butterflies. Butterflies got their big eyes and weird strap mouth and gangly legs. Meanwhile moths are fuzzy and soft.

I’d love it if caring about moths led to caring about light pollution, too. Light pollution affects lots of animals. It isn’t just about our night sky (which I also care about).

We got an influx of moths in CO with all the rain we’ve gotten in the last month or so

Y’all can have them. Too many moths here right now.
