I’ve been using a really old Dualshock 4. It was fine for modern, but I have switched to classic recently, and getting some inputs has been really difficult. The dpad is really mushy. Many times, I’m positive I’m holding down back but still end up getting hit because the controller doesn’t register the input as down back, it’s really frustrating. I love everything else about the controller, the button placement and the size suits my small hands really well.

Looking around I found some old threads where people were praising xbox controller but then I found this video and now I am not sure, the face buttons also seem really stiff. Other pads like HORI and Razer ones are way too expensive here so either I just buy a new DS4 and hope it’ll diminish my issues or buy the xbox controller.

Why not get the DualSense? I went from DS4 to DualSense and I love it. We also have a Series S and I don’t mind the controller. Yes, the face buttons are a little stiff and I find the angle of the triggers a little awkward. DualSense is definitely my favourite.

All d pads blow. The weird xbox thing is definitely worse than the DS. I find the dpad on the DualSense much better than on the ds4.

Well couple of reasons, it’s really expensive and from the looks of it I’ll just have the same issues with it that I do with DS4.

In my experience the playstation has always had a better dpad for fighters than the Xbox. I’d even say that the worst first party playstation controllers are better than the best Xbox controllers for fighters but I haven’t tried the series controller yet so maybe they finally made something that’s not terrible for fighters.

Get either the officially licensed Sega Saturn USB controller from RetroBit or the 8bitdo M30.

Saturn mk2 (original) controller has the best dpad ever made IMO.

Even better would be an original Saturn controller with a USB converter. I’ve had luck with Mayflash in the past, but nowadays I use a Bliss Box.

Or just get/build an arcade stick.

I’d get an arcade stick if I could but those are just way too expensive to be an option for me, and idk where I’d find an original Saturn controller, doesn’t seem like it’s available anywhere.

Don’t think Sega sold any hardware here officially, I looked up the controller, only results I could find were from foreign websites.

AliExpress has some $40-60 leverless controllers ( like an arcade stick but with buttons instead of a joystick)
