Drank 3 beers and 1 shot of whiskey last night like a law abiding citizen instead of smoking weed. Holy fucking shit hangovers are worse than I remember. Fuck everyone fighting to keep weed illegal. They’re all subhuman trash.

If you’re getting hung over you’re just consuming too much and/or not eating/hydrating enough after

      acetaldehyde would like a word…

      The Chemical Breakdown of Alcohol

Alcohol is metabolized by several processes or pathways. The most common of these pathways involves two enzymes—alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH). These enzymes help break apart the alcohol molecule, making it possible to eliminate it from the body. First, ADH metabolizes alcohol to acetaldehyde, a highly toxic substance and known carcinogen. Then, acetaldehyde is further metabolized down to another, less active byproduct called acetate, which then is broken down into water and carbon dioxide for easy elimination

if you want to avoid the hangover take some L-Cysteine before you drink

I ate a bunch of food, drank a ton of water and used the bathroom like 10 times. I used to be a more hardcore alcoholic. I think my body just can’t handle as much booze anymore.

Same here. I cant stand the comments of people who won the genetic lottery or are just younger who teach me how I’m drinking wrong. When I was younger I could chug vodka with barely any hangover, after turning 30 two beers destroy the next day for me.

Mixing types of alcohol doesn’t do well either. Stay with one type and you are better off.

Not even just an actual hangover. It feels like I’m not properly hydrated for several days after a night of moderate drinking.

Right!? I want to enjoy the innebriation on my own terms! Alcohol gets payback. Weed leaves a kiss on your forehead.

I felt the same way when I used to smoke, but since I stopped I now enjoy my occasional night drinking. But ONLY at a social event filled with people to talk to, that was harder to do with weed. Smoked by myself more often than not, so it depends on the situation.

Fuck everyone fighting to keep weed illegal.

so I drink too much. can easily drink every night and while I wouldn’t say I get drunk often, I drink more than most people would be considered moderate (4-6 a night).

I’m also on blood pressure medication. I’ve been managing high BP for a few years and kind of stabilised (high but acceptable rate). last 6 months my drinking has been as regular as mentioned above.

my 6mo check up last week was a hell of a wakeup call. despite being more physically active than ever, my BP was 190/110.

people, drinking will kill if you drink too much. I don’t want to die. but I now see I have a problem and I want to fix it. I’m only 41

I can barely handle a small glass of Scotch anymore. I love a good single malt, but hangovers are fucking gnarly these days.

Meanwhile, I can smoke an entire hashy joint that’s dipped in cannabis oil and rolled in kief, and at the worst I might feel slightly more groggy than usual for a few minutes in the morning.

Weed can’t really be an alternative to booze for me. The vibes when I’ve consumed THC socially are just very off, even worse if it’s in a public place. They are just a very different feeling and I wish there were something that gave the effects of ethenol without the health consequences because it is not good for your body. I don’t really get hangovers though, I’m concerned about the long term consequences and should probably just avoid drinking.

Same, they’re not comparable with me either. I’m a weird see-saw introextrovert and smoking weed socially has me weird out even more. People don’t know what to do with me. So, I consume alone or in small, carefully selected company. Alcohol is fine until it’s not. Remember to drink water

    Come down a little, fella.

I don’t drink hardly anymore since starting smoking. I like a good rum and coke every now and then, but other than that I’ve eliminated alcohol from my life. I also got crossfaded a few times and it ended up causing some pretty awful, uh, “religious experiences.”
