Hi all,

I’m an admin on blahaj.zone, /196’s home instance. I’m not a member of /196, and I’m not familiar with its history. However, I’m seeing a LOT of reports coming through that aren’t being actioned by community mods.

It looks like the original mod has deleted their account, and the remaining mod hasn’t been active since their initial post 2 days ago.

What I’m hoping to see is that @threegnomes logs back in, appoints some mods and gets things under control.

But should that not happen, I’m going to need to step in and appoint some mods myself

Either way, if you’re interested in being a mod, please reply below. I (and hopefully @threegnomes) will look at everyone that gets lots of community support (via upvotes or replies) and put some more mods in.

Lots of upvotes doesn’t mean you automatically get the job. I reserve the right to veto candidates that I think are going to create more work rather than reduce it.

Do I need to make a separate account to moderate a community on a different instance? This account is on Lemmy.world

I just sent a new report through for your post saying “test report”. That should appear soon in the shield icon notifications at the top of the page

Nope, you should be able to moderate across instances just fine.

You’ll have a shield icon on the top of your screen where report notifications will appear, though you likely won’t see old reports. You’ll get new ones from this point on though.

You should also be able to see historical actions in the modlog link on the right info panel for the community. You should see new options under the 3 dot menu for users in the sub, as well as (hopefully) having an edit link for the the community itself at the top right of the information panel for the community

Got it. I’m familiar with the moderation system, 195’s given me a bit of practice
