Don’t dox yourself. Try to limit your information to a Maidenhead locator or general area of at least a few kilometers in an urban area and a few dozen in rural areas.

I’m from South Hesse, in Germany. Some of the most regarded German comedians (yes, they exist) are from around here and we have a pretty diverse culture, both traditionally German and from immigrants.

So, where do you live and how is it?

Westside of Michigan. The summers and autumn are stuningly beautiful here. And it’s surprisingly affordable to live here, though, like pretty much everywhere, that’s is charging rapidly>

I live in the Piney Woods region of East Texas. It’s wetter than what most people imagine when they think of Texas and has beautiful, towering pine trees and the rivers have knobby kneed bald cypress trees. Unfortunately, all that moisture out here comes with a lot of mosquitos, too. We still have Texas heat and humid heat is pretty miserable, sometimes I wish I lived in a desert instead but I would miss all the greenery.

I used to live in Hesse when I was very young, I started kindergarten there. Unfortunately, I barely know any German. I might have to look up those comedians for more listening practice!

Just moved from NBTX to VA after working for the state of Texas for almost 20 years. You ought to look at down that way, esp before Austin gentrifies it :)

Maybe, but Shenandoah National Park is so beautiful I might just have to follow you to VA instead! I lived in central VA for a year and it might be my favorite place I’ve lived in the US. Unfortunately, family has me tied down to east Texas for the time being. NB will probably be fully overtaken by Austin by the time I get out of here.

Born in NYC but now in suburbs of northern NJ (but still not far from NYC). Not a fan of how car-centric life is but I’m getting used to it. I do love the access to all the nature around here, and it’s nice to not have cars honking at 1am, so I’d say it’s a good tradeoff haha.

Miami, Florida, but I’d like to leave eventually because Florida is rapidly becoming a shithole (as I’m sure many of you have seen).

I’m from the same area, and my wife and I want to move somewhere else as well. We can’t stand South Florida.

Southern California. It’s very hot here and there’s a lot of dirt, but at least we have In-N-Out.

Being in the high desert, we have like four weather patterns, but we do rarely get snow so it’s cool to see when it happens. It also gets very windy, especially during early summer.

To get anywhere interesting you would have to drive, and to go on vacation you would have to drive much further. Even then, a lot of people still drive big trucks that burn gas like nobody’s business. But hey, that’s rural America for you.

Any towns you recommend in South CA? For example, Temecula. My wife and I follow FI/RE and we want to move to that area from the NE once we quit our jobs. We’d be in our late 30s.

In terms of places to live? I wouldn’t be the best one to ask about that, I don’t have my own place yet. That being said, I like where I live, in [High Desert], though admittedly I’m pretty biased in saying that. You might be able to find an area that’s nice and affordable.
