This might be more Treachery of Images memes that I’ve ever seen in my life, all in one place.
I think I’m out of the loop on this
Thank you. I would never have even known what to search to find this information. This is a fascinating exhibit as well.
Right there with you friend. The interwebs is a strange place sometimes.
The artwork this meme is based on is a popular example of surrealism from 1929. I expect it was reproduced and the caption changed or reinterpreted many times before the internet was a twinkle in Al Gore’s eyes.
I’m confused. Is there something else or is me thinking there is when there isn’t the entire point?
Yes
The the painting and the painter are something special. The original phrase under the pipe is that this isn’t a pipe, because it’s a painting. It’s a example of something that is and isn’t what it says it is
Well… that seems obvious now doesn’t it. Sigh
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):
One of my favorite pieces of music is actually a sandwich.

Now where could my pipe be?
The Treachery of Images (French: La Trahison des Images) is a 1929 painting by Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. It is also known as This Is Not a Pipe, Ceci n’est pas une pipe and The Wind and the Song. Magritte painted it when he was 30 years old. It is on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
