He was more like this force of nature. I think the true villain in Dark Souls is everyone thinks they will be different, they will be the ones who push the Dark back forever, and they never are.
That’s a very cool point ds2 made. You start as a cursed one that just wants to get cured and you end by entering the throne and relinking the fire to restart the cycle of the curse
