Turtle doesn’t mod for shit, nor do other mods with 1000+ subs. These people see themselves as ‘community leaders’ who set up org charts and make all the lower-rung mods do all the work for them. It’s incredibly toxic.

I’ve been on mod teams with him and some other powermods. They don’t do shit, just have new mods do all the work as they and their friends set up ‘org charts’ according to which they run their subs.
Spez and the rest of the admins did a great job at chasing me away from the platform early. I’d wait for Apollo to die first, but I just can’t handle the toxic air suffusing the entire platform lately. Not to mention, it’s all but useless right now thanks to the protests.
Thanks to the forced hiatus, I’ve come to realize how bad the platform was for my mental health. Honestly, even if they fire spez and fix the whole API thing, I might end up taking an extremely long break from Reddit.
On scores and ‘karma’ specifically, another issue with visible voting metrics is how they encourage the dopamine-chasing behavior that’s so common to social media platforms. This artificial ‘validation’ pushes us towards inauthenticity and feeds our addictions to bigger numbers.
