OmegaMouseOPto Books@lemmy.world•Are there any authors whose books you eagerly anticipate and tend to buy at launch?2·3 days agoI read Kaiju Preservation Society last year and had a lot of fun with it! I’ve got a copy of Old Man’s War to read at some point, looking forward to it.
OmegaMouseOPto Books@lemmy.world•Are there any authors whose books you eagerly anticipate and tend to buy at launch?2·3 days agoNettle & Bone seems to be her most well known novel. Is that a good one to start with?
OmegaMouseOPto Books@lemmy.world•Are there any authors whose books you eagerly anticipate and tend to buy at launch?1·3 days agoBuying them on Amazon and then downloading them elsewhere is a good suggestion! Thanks :)

OmegaMouseOPto Books@lemmy.world•Are there any authors whose books you eagerly anticipate and tend to buy at launch?6·4 days agoI read The Way of Kings earlier this year and loved it, but given the size and quantity of these books I doubt I’m going to be able to get on top on that series or any of his others in time for his latest releases xD
Waiting for series by other authors to complete makes a lot of sense. It’s super frustrating following an author only for their quality to drop near the end.

OmegaMouseOPto Books@lemmy.world•Are there any authors whose books you eagerly anticipate and tend to buy at launch?4·4 days agoThat sounds like a fun series! I hadn’t heard of LitRPG before but if I’m understanding correctly it’s like an isekai where they’re in an RPG with health bars and stuff?
OmegaMouseto PlayStation@lemmy.world•New PS5 system update beta previews DualSense wireless controller pairing across multiple devicesEnglish6·4 days agoOh that’s neat. I occasionally use my controller on the Steam Deck and it’s a pain having to re-pair the PS5 each time. Hopefully this system will be compatible with the Deck.
Oh neat! Hopefully it can live up to the book :)
OmegaMouseto Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? July 152·6 days agoThis is the first book I’ve read by him, but I’d love to try out some of his others now. A colleague recommend Small Mercies and I’ve heard Mystic River is also very good.
OmegaMouseOPto Books@lemmy.world•Any good books on Japanese philosophy/aesthetics, in particular wabi-sabi?2·7 days agoAhh thank you! This isn’t one I’d heard of before so I appreciate you sharing it. The topic sounds fascinating, and definitely aligns with what I was looking for.

OmegaMouseto Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? July 153·10 days agoEarlier today I finished Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. That was quite a ride! Some really beautiful descriptions of locations and characters, and the way he writes really keeps you on your toes. It’s the first book I’ve read in a while which has kept me hooked until the end. Highly recommend.
I don’t like how they used human feet emojis instead of paws :(
I can hear this song every time that film is mentioned. Classic
I’ve only read one book by Stephen King and it was The Institute. It was really great, I couldn’t put it down.
At some point I’d like to try The Stand and 11/22/63 which I’ve heard are both excellent :)

I love some of Neal Stephenson’s novels, though I haven’t read any of his more recent work. Are they still good?
