  • I own basically the cheapest mechanical chronograph watch in existence and I love it. For 250 bucks you can get a “Seagull 1963” watch from China on Amazon.

It’s actually a really nice looking watch with a glass case back so you can see all the gears in the movement. It was designed by the Swiss company Venus a long time ago and they sold it to a Chinese company at some point where it got copied by a bunch of other Chinese companies.

You might find it under a different brand name. Mine is the “Seakoss” variant. They come in a bunch of different styles and sizes so pick whichever you prefer.

Sure maybe it’s not great to be supporting China but so much stuff we buy comes from China anyway so I don’t think about it too much.

I wanted a mechanical watch so I could admire the gears but I wasn’t about to drop many thousands of dollars on one so this thing fits the bill.

  • I like bikes that can do street and dirt so my style is dual sport and ADV. I can’t be trusted with sport bikes because my wrist has a mind of its own and I’ll probably end up dead. Cruisers are comfortable and great on the highway but they don’t excite me in the twisties and they typically don’t do dirt very well.

Ive ridden a few cruisers (VTX 1300 and 1800, Street Glide, and a Sportster) and they were great bikes (Well not the Sportster) but they didn’t excite me in the way that other bikes do.

Two wheels is two wheels so as long as you enjoy it I’m happy for you!

  • The best accessory that I can recommend is a top case. I know they look super dorky but they are by far the most handy way to carry some extra shit while you’re out riding. I had a Givi on my GS that could hold a 30 pack of beer which was very handy.

My wife repurposed a knock-off Pelican from Harbor Freight as a top case for her Honda 300L. I mooch storage space in her top case all the time because my KTM 500 has no structure to support a top case.

  • Biden has two “band-aid” fixes that I’m aware of.

The first as you mentioned is the student debt relief which doesn’t address the root cause of the problem that colleges can charge exorbitant fees to 17 year olds who have no concept of financial responsibility.

The other band-aid is the pardoning of non-violent marijuana offenders. I’m all for these people getting their lives back but it’s 2023 and marijuana is still fucking illegal in the United States even though most of its citizens and most of its states have decided that it shouldn’t be illegal.

I don’t get Biden. He talks a big game but he can’t seem to make any meaningful changes because he’s too busy losing the gun control war.
