We got our milk in quart jars (in old money). The jars had screw on glass lids not foil tops. Foil tops were fancy. Yes it was delivered by a horse & cart.

Back when I was a kid, mum & dad were going through a difficult financial patch so we made xmas decorations from gum tree twigs - painted with thin flour & water glue and tinfoil laid on like it was gold leaf. Then wove the twigs into garlands and a whole xmas tree (small). Peach pits got the same treatment and were the baubles along with gingerbread shapes baked hard. Looked and smelled very nice. I remember it as kinda messy but very fun. I think I remember painting the peach pits before they were covered with tinfoil so the colours showed through the inevitable gaps in the tinfoil. The downside was our cat decided she liked the gingerbread shapes to chew on and this wasn’t good for her digestion.

Charcoal is good for the digestion. Also absorbs poisons. You may have done yourself a serious favour.

Does anyone here use Whatsapp? A dear friend is travelling overseas and wants to stay in touch using it. Is there anything I should be wary of? Would prefer to get some opinions before signing up.

Understood. If you have a household of beetroot refusers, then currying the beetroot can work. Mildish curry paste, and use orange juice as the cooking liquid. The tang tends to defuse that musky taste. Which I love but I can see why people don’t. Pickled in a burger - well that hits the tang factor too.

Did you see the news article a few years ago where this happened to a gardener in Germany - but an aerial photographer (too early for drones) saw it and called in the bomb squad cos they thought it was unexploded munition from WW2. Lots of egg on face all round when the bomb squad arrived to deactivate it.

Yup. Fully agree. About 15 years ago I kept my horse over summer in a small paddock in EBrunswick down by the creek. The council made me keep a covered skip for the horse manure, which was fair enough I reckon. I loaded it up every day as per council regulations, but NEVER had to empty it, as the contents would mysteriously vanish overnight and boxes of tomatoes and other garden vegetables would miraculously appear in my horse’s shelter shed. A sort of black economy of horse manure/vegies, all without one word being said. I kinda miss that.

Zucchs are monsters. The problem with gifting extras is that when ones own zucchs come up ripe, so are everyone else’s. Illegal alcohol is your friend here. Still, having an extra or two on the go in case of snail/slug invasion is a good idea.

4 zucchini plants will feed a family of 10 and have enough left over to put in a still to be boiled down for illegal alcohol. 6 - um probably too many for just one person. I’d go for 2 only I think.

Sunday night fush & chups please. And a cheeky glass of sauvignon blanc to have with.

Do you have an equigroomer? Or you could make one with an old hacksaw blade glued into a piece of wood I think. The original one was just that. There are small ones available too for dogs & cats.
