You’re accusing Cory Doctorow, the guy who invented the phrase “enshittification”, of making a blog post that’s really an advert…? Really???
I had no idea there were smaller models out there catering to this service! What ones would you recommend? Not asking for a friend, genuinely interested in playing around (no pun intended) with them to see what they produce… the fantasy stuff isn’t really me, I’m just fascinated to see what they come up with…
Are you also an airline pilot by any chance?
Natural History Museum in London… before you even get to the exhibits it has some of the most breathtaking architecture.

The Working Time Directive means you can’t work more than 48 hours per week and it also prevents employers from making you work more than 48 hours per week (there are some exceptions eg workers on ships and trainee doctors) but in most EU countries you can opt out of it.

Well in which case you probably won’t believe me but I’ve been using Kagi for a while and am extremely happy with it… no link with the company at all other than a very satisfied user 🤷🏻♂️
You can improve Google a bit using ublacklist but it still wasn’t anywhere as good as Kagi.
I will say Kagi isn’t as good when it comes to looking for local businesses or services… I still use Google for that but you can do that within Kagi with a !g and it anonymises the search
Pronounced “shitter”
If you replaced “company” with “monopoly” in your last sentence, I agree.
Also it depends what’s driving that attitude… if it’s an ethos from Gabe then great but he won’t be around forever… what happens when he dies/retires?
Many companies have started with great ethics that went out of the window when the founders moved on, and Steam is in a fantastic position to enshitify if it wanted to.
Thanks will have a look 👍
