Thanks! I’ll give that a shot!

I really just need the audio. I’ve watched older Trek so much that I’ve half-memorized the dialogue. It would be nice just to have the audio in the background while I’m working.
It looks like Lemmy.world communities do not get regularly indexed on search engines. Is this because of the system architecture, or is it for some other reason?
If memory serves me right, it wasn’t long ago that many were well below $100.
It’s amazing how much batteries have increased in price since Covid.
Thanks for reminding everyone of this. The gas savings over time will probably end up being the same, or less, than a starter on an older vehicle. Of course, if you’re not planning on keeping the vehicle until it dies, this is less of an issue for you.
We need to start posting.
So sort of create a read-only Lemmy instance that re-creates the accounts and posts from archived Reddit?
I deleted my Reddit account as well. People deleting 10-year-plus accounts will make a larger statement than a couple of days of silent subs.
Reddit has control over granting mod access to new people for rebellious subs. It doesn’t have control over my use or non-use of the platform.
I actually don’t mind the Pluto ads. If you put Trek on in the background while working, I think you’ll find that they’re so repetitive yet non-annoying that you just mentally block them out.
I find the PlutoTV app to also be much more user-friendly and reliable than Paramount Plus. I would rather be able to have everything on demand and pay Paramount, but the Paramount Plus app is so buggy on my Smart TV and on Kodi that I’ve given up.
The last straw was when I was actually contemplating writing a script to automatically restart Kodi because of how often Paramount Plus dies on Kodi.
I agree with you that it’s nice in a way not even having to think about what to watch next. If something really bad comes on, like that pretty racist TNG episode from season 1 or the Voyage lizard episode, it’s a lot easier to just switch from the Star Trek to the More Trek channel, or vice versa, and be done with it.
I deleted my account as part of the Great Reddit Exodus of 2023 but have periodically visited the site since without an account.
Many of the posts I see now seem really sensationalist and almost like they were created by bots. Of course, maybe Reddit was always that way and it just some time being away for me to realize that.
