  • Yup not an ideal situation to spur on planning and preparation. They can’t scale up quickly enough in the relevant ways in the manner you’re suggesting (before Monday) can they? I see this more as a situation where they admit a large influx will break the site, plan for a general “all hands on deck” day to assess the issues (if any) as they arise, interpret, prioritize work. If hosts have issues with server migrations, deployments, etc. etc. it’s already the weekend and none of it is an option for Monday.

  • Eh? For the trailer?? This 45 second announcement trailer with no game content has all the budget it deserves imo. Such a forgetful scene in general yeah? A generic cutscene of the Borg dropping their catch phrase on a nameless Starfleet captain is almost cringeworthy levels of basic and would only be more so if they hired good actors. I think it’s fine though, all they’re doing here is saying “this project exists, look it’s the Borg! stay tuned” instead of something with any aims to impress us.

  • Never paranormal. Everything has an explanation sometimes the explanations are beyond our comprehension and I think that’s the tricky little blank spot where people tend to insert whatever the fuck they want in place of the truth. To me being able to admit I will never know certain things is important, I can still keep a open mind while I do that. Basically I’ll believe it when I see it and haven’t heard a believable ghost story in my 40 years. People get scared and they lock that moment into time and refuse to budge on the fact that the reality may not be exactly how they always remembered it, or something.

  • I think it sort of says a lot about the job if it can so easily be replaced. That’s not a dig at the people who do the job, it’s just how we’ve always done it. For as long as we humans have been working we’ve been figuring ways to do less work and it appears we may have played ourselves here. But if you’re writing ads that a AI can spit out are you really living your best life? Is your job really one that encompasses your passion as a writer…? These things don’t matter if you just need a paycheck, I get that but I think you need to be real about what your job is. Like with the introduction of advanced mining tech manual labor in coal mines and steel industry etc. pretty much died off. To me, these type of writers are the coal miners.

I’m obviously not a writer myself but I always wondered about editors. That must be a job that is more secure because someone definitely has to lay eyes on the AI result before it just goes to print. That decision making person will keep their job. I’m worried people are almost at the point where we wouldn’t even need our ads to be proofread though and we would still get the point and consume the shit out of it either way. Buy I digress.
