Twitter is dumb as fucking fuck. Political leaders shouldn’t be there. If you shitpost, you shouldn’t be in charge of anything but shitposting.

Who could see this coming, other than literally everybody
Yes I do think it was championed by conservative people. And if that statement pisses anyone off, my evidence is that Fannin County GA, where this took place, voted 82% for Trump. It’s almost as if the whole “government overreach” thing is just empty marketing for policies that make rich people richer…
That’s not actually related to my point though. This is more like:
First they tweeted offensive things about women, and I made sure that thing they tweeted is now the only thing we talk about.
Then we couldn’t talk about all the women dying of not getting abortions on time because we’re too busy talking about tweets.
How about we stop focusing on reacting in kind to things the biggest nazi assholes say (possibly to evoke this sort of reaction and get more attention for themselves) and maybe just ignore them instead so they don’t bring down the conversation to some bullshit fascist online troll level.
Imagine if there was a hack so bad that it caused everyone to become unable to develop in C and C++.
Classic “let’s just make the cure worse than the disease” mindset among security enthusiasts.
Politically-motivated tea tax, what could go wrong?
I think this is intended as satirical but given the multitude of illogical reasons some give for supporting Trump it’s hard to tell.
Yeah there would’ve been no defending this if it happened. Rogan controls the mics and would do whatever he could to end her campaign right there. Maga would post all over X (with Elon’s amplification) that she got “owned” as Rogan shouted over her her, and the left would be angry that she appeared on his show in the first place. It would have been a pure loss.

Hispanic Americans are overwhelmingly working class, and (unlikely black people) don’t see themselves as a single unified minority group, so they don’t feel the sting of Republican racism pointed towards them.
Why doesn’t working class matter? Because such people generally aren’t as involved in following politics and policy type stuff as white collar folks. So they are swayed by other factors like masculinity signalling. This is obviously why Trump added Hulk Hogan, and of course standing up and pumping his fist after getting nicked in the ear by a terrible sniper helped too.
All these government benefits programs are ready to deny 100 valid people benefits if it means they stop one instance of fraud. Because only the one instance of fraud gets attention in the corporate media.
It will be hugely unpopular. It’s not clear whether that will translate to Trump or Republicans becoming unpopular though.
Well last time they tried to get rid of it, but John McCain sank that effort as if failed 49-51. Just before he died of cancer.
Now all the John McCains have been purged from the GOP and they will have a bigger senate majority, and likely a significant house majority too. So if there is an effort to repeal the ACA, it’ll very likely pass.
Sunk cost fallacy is definitely a subtype, but I’m going for I guess the more general concept of an idea that becomes more popular the worse it does
I upvoted you because I think you’re about the one person stating the reasons a lot of people give for voting Trump. However, I do quite strongly disagree with all of them:
A worldwide pandemic was not Trump’s fault.
Trump loves to take credit for the low inflation and low gas prices after the pandemic in 2020. So if he’s taking credit for that, he should be taking credit for the cause too. Of course, that’s spin. The fact is reality is complicated, and none of this things can really be attributed to Trump.
Latinos voted for trump because they were sick of smug elites telling them they needed to alter their own language
Ok so we’re talking about the person who is going to run the federal government that sets tax policy, handles emergencies, etc. and has utterly no power over people’s language. And honestly, whoever these people saying others “needed to alter their language” are, if they exist at all, I’m pretty sure it’s not Kamala Harris. I get that maybe you’re trying to provide a justification that isn’t necessarily yours in particular, but this example is a particularly egregiously silly reason to vote for president.
Top it off with claiming that even though butter in places like CA is $7 and eggs are $6, the economy was actually better than ever before, and they were just too stupid to understand that.
Ok so tell us then, what policy of Biden’s caused inflation? Here’s a chart of Monthly CPI data, as you can see the rise in inflation was basically Jan 2021 (the month before he took office) to June 2022, before it started to come down. So what policy of Biden’s was impacting the economy over that period? Keep in mind you’ll also have to explain how it impacted the whole global economy in a similar way.
For example, if I were arguing the other way, I would say that Trump’s tax cuts for the rich in 2017, which dumped trillions of dollars into the economy, have had ample time by 2021 to alter the balance of production lead to price increases in multiple consumer goods. As the investor class tends to spend money on a global scale and the US has by far the most extremely rich people, it’s unsurprising that it would impact other countries. There, now you try, but with Biden instead.
Or don’t. Because the reality is in the overall aura of your comment. “Smug elites”, one of many labels used very successfully to paint Democrats as undesirable and disgusting. It’s about what team people wanted to be on. Trump painted himself as Team Alpha Male, complete with Hulk Hogan there to cheer him on. And he painted the other side as, to be blunt, a bunch of gross trans women. That messaging is no different from what beer vendors, truck makers, etc. have used successfully for decades. And it worked again here.
It’s funny how people try to rationalize why Trump won, as if has any rationality behind it whatsoever.
There will be Fox News appearances.
