Just checked a local chippie and chow mein would be £8 with fancy ones running to £8.40. That feels like a lot but prices have jumped up recently. I checked on Just Eat and the cheapest I could find was £7.60.
I suppose we now know why no-one ever cooks on American sitcoms.
I should point out that this is not really the norm. It’s just this one place, and the place is a bit of a hole in the wall and does not have table service. But it’s also not much of a secret because it’s always packed.
Sweet & Sour Pork
Orange/Lemon chicken (depending on the place and what they have)
Chow mein
Fried rice
Egg rolls
Egg drop soup
At the place I go to most often, I can get all of that for about $8 and it’s enough for two meals.
