This was right by my apartment a few years ago and has been living rent free in my head ever since.

      It was over a pot hole that was so deep that there wasn’t asphalt at the bottom and due to the poor drainage in that area it was growing at a surprising rate.

      So when they put the traffic barrel there it didn’t take long before the pot hole was large enough that it started to eat it.

      I don’t have any pictures of when the hole got large enough that the barrel could no longer rest on the brim but by that point the hole was over a foot deep.

      The hole was fixed almost 2 years ago now but I do miss that traffic barrel that lived in the middle of the road.

        That scares me thinking about sink holes. The pavement keeps water from flowing onto the dirt below so when there’s a small pothole now only that one spot gets eroded super quick but the pavement above hides it

      My money is on quicksand. They keep telling me that I shouldn’t worry about quicksand, but look at this cone and tell me not to worry about quicksand again!
