As others have already noted, they literally just stole the x.org logo: x.org foundation logo

Elon has never had an original idea in his life.

Mastodon instances, get your snarky X emojis ready!

I do wonder how much this, of all things, will affect migrations to Mastodon and alternatives. It’s a very visible change compared to the more abstract changes they’ve been doing recently.

The hellscape of blue checks highlighted saying the worst stuff imaginable should be enough to drive people away, but brands can be powerful. Apparently it’s already making a difference.

On that note I really wish I had an invite for meow.social

Best I can do is an invite for furry.engineer . :P

Would definitely recommend furry.engineer - but if that’s not your jam, pawb.fun is run by the same team. Reg is open for both with approval required, but the approval is just reading the rules and telling them a little about yourself. If they’ve approved you for Pawb Social, link that in the box, and they’ll probably approve you for the Mastodon instance too.

Weird to buy such a famous platform only to rebrand it, but seems like Elon Musk wants this X thing to take off for decades already.

Having my first initial be X now feels so cringe. I used to go by just the letter…

Well, I guess it’s X-rated now. Can’t tweet at work any more, it’s the law.
