In the fallout of Elon Musk’s baffling appearance during President Donald Trump’s inauguration, a curious new front in the ongoing online culture war has emerged: a push by Reddit sports mods and users to ban links to X (formerly known as Twitter).
And it’s not just sports subreddits, too.
They’re doing the same over here in c/playstation
Theres another around here, I just saw their announcement post, but I forgot who lol
I noticed !vegan@lemmy.world in my all feed. Since I’m not subscribed I’m guessing it got a lot of attention to show up there.
On reddit, FFS.
“We can’t let those Nazis contaminate OUR Nazis!”
You know, I’m ok with it. It’s the (ostensibly unpaid) mods, not the admins.
Anybody drawing lines in the sand that impact Nazis negatively, is not “a bad guy” today.
I agree with Botzo on this one. These are mods of some of the largest and most active communities on Reddit. They’re just doing what they can to keep the lights on.
Or… just don’t perform unpaid labor for capital.
Surely even the centrists have noticed a Sieg Heil! Surely!
Won’t someone think of the bots!!!
I misread that title, taking ‘sports’ as a verb (not r/sports) and just assumed I didn’t know what the hell it meant to ‘sport’ a mod.
