i grew up with some beautiful, heavy mechanical keyboards and i just setup a new office. i would like to have the great clickity-clack snappy response keys back in action. any recommendations?
Like an IBM model M? Unicomp makes a modern version
I have this keyboard, while it does have a fairly good feel, the plastic structure is pretty flimsy. I’m not sure if recommend it over a good modern mechanical kB.
I also have this keyboard but have a different warning. Once you use buckling sping keys it’s hard to go back to regular switches. I grew up with a model M. I agree it’s flimsy compared to the M but I fixed the feel by mounting big wights inside the chassis.
thank you!
If you don’t mind throwing some money at the problem, you can go a step more durable and get a new model F.
Despite their reputation, I’ve actually had two original model M boards die on me over the years. Yes, just from sitting on my desk and being typed on. No, I can’t imagine how either.
