“After an article reported that Rachel Zegler “trashed” the production of Disney’s Snow White due to her stance on Palestine, thousands online are applauding her vocal stance this week despite the pressures of working with Disney and former Israeli army soldier Gal Gadot.”

    Good for her.

…still not watching the movie, but good for her!

My students said it was awful. They actually like the actress in that role, btw, but just… Everything else is awful.

Free Palestine & fuck the Zionists and all, but her trying to shit on the original story and endorsing a twisted & misguided feminist story is what irks me about her. Do a movie about women empowerment, no problem with that. Why ruin a classic to that end though?

Blame Disney for making her say shit like that, it was very clearly a form of marketing for the money and it wasn’t the first nor last will be the last time Disney has its live action cast members talk shit about the OG version.

Moreover, the comment wasn’t even really “shitting” on it either. People spreading that clearly only heard about it online. IIRC, she just called it outdated and that Prince Charming is weird, even if she wasn’t coached to say that somehow, she’s entitled to have opinions.

I guiltily admit i do watch them as background noise years after they’ve been released to make sure they suck. They typically do, though I’ve heard The Jungle Book live remake wasn’t bad.

IMO The Little Mermaid live action remake was pretty good. They made the love interest make more sense, not just the guy going “pretty girl is pretty” and also I liked that

          spoiler

it was her who killed the sea witch at the end and not the guy.

IMO that made for a more well rounded ending.

As for the others, I’ve se Beauty and The Beast and wasn’t impressed but have watched none of the others because all of them live in an uncanny valley I don’t want to visit.

I always thought the Beauty and the Beast remake was great. Lilo and Stitch trailer looks amazing.

Believe it or not, Lady and the Tramp was a surprisingly good live-action-ish remake. Maybe my expectations were low as it wasn’t released in theaters, but I enjoyed it more than the bigger budgeted ones.

Agreed. Loved it so much I saw it twice.

            But to be fair—it was a prequel—not a remake.

But, it was an animated recreation from an older story to start. Recreations happen all the time. Lazy? I suppose, but why would it be lazy and not the initial copy?
